ABOUT ERIKA JONES-CLARY
I like helping people.
I like helping people.

I’m Erika Jones-Clary, the founder of MsJones, a digital consultancy that helps nonprofits, public agencies, and community-minded organizations bring clarity, creativity, and impact to their online presence.
For more than twenty years, I’ve worked at the intersection of design, technology, and social good. I began my career building websites at a time when dial-up was still the norm and have evolved with every new tool and trend since. What has stayed consistent is my belief that digital design should make things easier, clearer, and more meaningful for the people it serves.
At MsJones, I collaborate with teams of all sizes to create websites and digital tools that help organizations tell their stories, engage their communities, and work more efficiently. My role shifts depending on the project. Sometimes I’m the designer sketching layouts and color palettes; sometimes I’m the developer writing the code that makes a page sing. More often, I’m the strategist who helps connect the dots between a client’s goals, their message, and their audience’s experience.
Since launching my practice in 2002, I’ve had the privilege of leading hundreds of projects across education, housing, public health, and community development. My work has included everything from revitalizing San Francisco neighborhood initiatives to creating online learning tools and digital campaigns for national nonprofits. Each project is an opportunity to listen closely, solve problems creatively, and build something that feels both functional and human.
Clients describe working with me as organized, collaborative, and calm under pressure. I like to make the complex feel manageable and the technical feel approachable. I believe that process matters as much as results, and I aim to make both enjoyable.
Over the years, I’ve been honored with a Webby Honoree and the San Francisco Mayor’s Certificate of Honor for leadership and innovation in civic technology. Recognition like that is deeply meaningful, but what keeps me inspired are the relationships built through this work and the impact that good design can have on real people’s lives.
My guiding principle has always been simple: Do well by doing good.

“Erika served as our non profit organization’s technology and communications manager for many years. During her tenure with us, she completely redesigned our website and the functionality of our online library and consumer resources. She helped us migrate our database from Access to Sales Force and maximize use of MyEmma for client contacts. She created and implemented an “Ask and Expert” functionality that was a great leap forward for our organization. Her skill set is very broad. She has an extraordinary command of both technology and content – and practicality. She is thrifty by nature, very intelligent and very talented.”

“I am a graphic designer with no programming skills. I count upon Erika and her expertise to fully realize my designs, and she has done so for numerous websites I’ve envisioned. I also count on Erika to tell me what is not possible – this helps me be a better designer, and helps my clients achieve a web presence that is beautiful as well as practical. I highly recommend Erika.”
